New Years Eve 2014

Our New Years Eve was filled with a yummy family dinner, fireplace roasted s'mores, and sparklers outside!  We said "Happy New Year" at the top of our lungs, and the boys were in bed by 8:00 p.m.  We had a fun night to round out 2014!

Happy happy happy New Year!!

Houston, We Have a Climber

First, we had Cooper.  Not a climber.  From the minute he could toddle, he was cautious, even slightly clumsy.  And still to this day, he's cautious, still an observer before he jumps in, still hesitant.  He watches and observes, figuring it out first, and then tackles an obstacle.

Then, we had Austin.  Carefree.  He could go either way with anything and be fine.  He's hesitant, but more willing to jump into something "adventurous" like climbing or jumping off something tall.  He's pretty coordinated, fast on his feet, and independent, but still wants to hold my hand before climbing up or down something tall.

And now, there's Grayson.  Mr. Climber.  Or "Mr. Mischief" according to his two big brothers.  He has zero hesitation in climbing a stool or stairs or up a slide or onto something tall.  Before he could even walk, he figured out that he could scoot our red stool around to, say the kitchen counter, and climb on up.  And now he scoots chairs around the house so he can reach up to a higher area.  He has no fear.  If he sees something out of his reach, he will get to it all by himself.  If he's not being held by yours truly, he's probably climbing something, which is probably why I just keep carrying him around on my hip!

So, with Lamb boy #3, we officially have a climber.

When it all started...  (Not even walking yet.)  08.26.14

Sometimes climbing doesn't always work out the way you think.

9.30
Just helping himself to an orange.

When Grayson was about 10 months old, he started climbing into the fort on his own.  We quickly put up the baby gates over the large openings, and I taught him how to go down the slide on his tummy.  Ever since then, whenever we play outside, he goes in circles around the fort--up the stairs, onto the platform, down the slide on his tummy, GIGGLE GIGGLE, and start all over again.

Learning to climb on...and stand on...and walk across the coffee table was a super exciting day for this kiddo.
10.23
Bunk bed for the big boys, climbing apparatus for Little One.  Climb up the bars across the foot of the bed, across to tackle medium big brother, slide off on tummy, back around to the foot, and start all over again.  And GIGGLE the entire time.
10.29
Trying to wash his hands by himself...
And not two seconds later (while I was putting the red stool away)...
11.12
Just helping himself to a little Fireman Sam.
And not two seconds later (while I was moving the storage box)...
But sometimes we get frustrated because we aren't quite sure how to get back down.
11.13
"Grayson?  Grayson?  Gray-son!  Where are you?"  Yes, that was me.  I couldn't find him.  Oh, that's because he was "hiding" on top of the desk.
12.31
One way to get closer to Mommy's bathroom countertop.
Oh, gracious.  This climbing thing is keeping me ON. MY. TOES.
