Philip usually woke up around 6:00 a.m. or 6:30 a.m. and headed downstairs to fish. I thought I would take advantage of Cooper sleeping with Gammi and sleep in each morning, but I kept waking up around 7:20 a.m. So I took advantage of a quiet morning, made some decaf coffee and enjoyed the ocean and the beautiful morning from the patio. Plus, I could watch Philip fish. It was absolutely perfect and peaceful. After everyone was awake and moving, we'd have breakfast on the patio.

Day three at the beach was filled with rolling in the sand...
Marshalling in the ocean... (He plays ground crew everywhere we go these days. Love that.)
And making sandcastles. (Who knew I was married to such a pro sandcastle maker?)

I love the discussion that you can see happening in the below two pictures. With each sandcastle they made, Coop wanted to add house details..."How bout windows?!" "How bout sidewalk?!" They added roofs, chimneys, doors, lots of details. Each house was different and was assigned to different people. Poppi had a house; Annie had a house; Jackson had a house; and Nana had a house. All of the animals, Mocha, Drake, and Jack, all had smaller houses, too.

This was my view for the afternoon. Coop was upstairs napping, Philip was fishing and I was reading and smiling at the little sandcastles my boys made earlier that morning. Perfect.

After naptime, Coop headed back down with some fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies that he and Gammi made together. Gammi packed three cookies for him to bring down, one for each of us. However, Philip and I never saw those cookies. Cooperman Cookieman gobbled them down!
While Coop and I were playing and running in the water, Philip spent some time fishing. He quickly caught a fish and was excited to show Cooper. At first, Cooper wasn't sure about touching the fish, but was definitely interested in getting a close look. He pointed out the eyes and tail of the fish and did end up touching the fish, which he described as cold and slimy.

If it was possible, I would walk around with a camera and a video camera strapped around my neck at all times. Clicking and recording away. I wanted to capture every moment, every expression, every word and giggle and delighted squeal coming out of Cooper and the fun family time we were having. But, that's just not possible. I had to record things with my eyes and take as many mental pictures as possible.

My favorite mental picture from day three: Coop and I holding hands and running as hard as we could down the shore. He would suddenly stop, point out to the water and yell, "Pirate treasure!" I would swoop him up and we'd run out into the water, splashing, jumping and squealing.
