Halloween 2013

From the moment we started talking about Halloween, Cooper said he was going to be a fireman, of course.  But Austin, having no idea what Halloween wasn't sure what he wanted to "be."  So, the day before Halloween, I pulled out a few costumes for Austin to try on and see which he liked best.

First up...bumble bee!  He was a fan!

Next...monkey!
While Austin was running around like a monkey, Coop surprised us by putting jammies on Fireman Sam, which Austin thought was really funny.  And, he kinda loved running around like a monkey.
My little jack-o-lantern was a happy little napper while big brothers were playing.
After trying on a few costumes, Austin decided he wanted to be a monkey for Halloween!  Philip and I decided it really was the perfect costume for him.  Not only did he look ADORABLE, but a cute little tail-swinging monkey just suits his little personality, too!
Halloween day!  The boys and I headed up to SWA for a fun morning with Annie, SWA-style.  We had a great time, even though the SWA festivities have really changed and "calmed" over the last couple of years.  Fun, but just different.  Walking through the hangar with Aniie is always a hit!

On the way back to the hanger, we walked right in front of an aircraft that was about to taxi out.  Super duper cool.  The pilots started the engines just as we were walking in front it and the wing walkers started moving it...needless to say, I grabbed Austin's hand, Annie grabbed Coop's hand and we walked a little faster to get inside the hanger!  We got to watch the plane taxi right by!

Boo!
Later that evening, Coop was invited to go trick-or-treating with a school friend, who lives in our neighborhood.  After hot dogs and playing at their house, we headed out!  This was the first year of real, big-time trick-or-treating for Coop, and boy, did he love it!  The area where we went trick-or-treating was super busy and crowded.  Lots of fun for little Halloween goers.  Philip kept up with Coop, who basically ran with his friend from house to house to house to house!  They stopped every few houses so Austin and I could catch up.  Austin made it to the end of the long street, but then turned to me, signed and said, "All done, Mama."  He was a tired little monkey!  I took Austin back to our car to head home while Philip and Coop finished another street.  We really had such a fun night!  (Coop changed his costume last minute and decided to be an army guy--fire fighter by day; army guy by night.)

Reading to Baby

Austin has become a little bookworm--yea!!  I find him so often throughout the day looking at books in his room or in the playroom or in Cooper's room.  He will often bring me books to read or he'll bring a book and say "read Baby?"  Which, I've learned, means he wants to read to "Baby" (as Grayson is still called, four months later, by Austin).  I love that I have pictures of Austin reading Big Red Barn and Little Blue Truck to Grayson, two of Austin's favorites these days.
