A Day in the Life of Cooper

First, I have to practice walking with my favorite red car and my new favorite toy, a popper!

Later that afternoon, I practice walking again with my firetruck and, of course, my popper.
After that, now that I know how to climb things, I have to try to climb this cool orange chair.

I made it!
If I can climb the orange chair, I'm sure I can climb the black and white couch.

Not quite...maybe I'll try again next week.
And THEN, I WALK to Mommy!!!
Yep, we are almost there. It takes a little encouraging, but someone is super proud of himself! He gets huge smile on his face, slowly lets go of whatever he is balancing on, and walks to me! Then, of course, he claps for himself. :) Am I ready for this?!

Born a Horn

Texas Fight! Texas Fight! Yea Texas Fight!
To kickoff Texas/OU Weekend, Cooper and I headed to SWA for the annual Plane Pull. It's a contest where a team of employees representing UT and a team representing OU each pull a plane a set distance, and whichever teams pulls the plane the fastest wins! Employees can enter a drawing to be chosen to pull, and this year, my friend Art was chosen to pull for UT! Coop and I cheered and cheered for him and the UT team, but unfortunately OU pulled a little faster this year. :(

Here is Team UT starting to pull the plane...
Coop intensely watching the plane pull. He wasn't so sure what to think!
My friend, Laurie, and her little boy, Marshall, went with us. The boys had fun checking out a 737 up close. (I love how Cooper is trying to hold Marshall's hand in this picture.)
Just hanging out in the engine of a 737.
To continue the game festivities for the weekend, on Friday we were invited to a party where the main attraction was the one and only BEVO!! (Yep, they had Bevo just hanging out in the front yard.)
My cousins, Brian and Claire, came in from NYC for the weekend.
Bevo or the rope...which is more exciting? If Cooper only knew!

Don't mind the huge longhorn walking behind me! Cooper couldn't keep his eyes off Bevo as he headed to his trailer.
Bye Bevo!

And Up We Go

My little 13-month-old is all kinds of fun these days! He's active and playful and silly and just as sweet as he can be. And, while he isn't walking just yet on his own, he is learning how to climb. (Uh oh!) We have a ledge in front of our fireplace, and everyone asks me if Cooper likes to crawl up there. Well, up until last week, my answer (while chuckling) was, "Oh, Cooper can't climb up there." Ha ha ha...guess again.

First thing one morning, he tried and tried to get on that ledge.

"Hmm...ok, I'll try again later."
Later that day...
Did it!
It just was a matter of hours before he took his first tumble off that ledge, and it was just a matter of minutes after that that I blocked the ledge with boxes. I have a feeling those boxes will need to stay in place for awhile...until the climbing phase is over. When does that happen...maybe when he's 18 years old?!

PS: It was really chilly that morning, so we had to wear our Santa slippers! HO HO HO!

Cooper Special on Aisle Four!

I don't know about your family, but when my boys get a little antsy in Babies R Us and they begin to wonder around on their own, this is how I find them...
Don't mind me, just part of the display.
